What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, the non-intoxicating (high-inducing) component of the cannabis plant with enormous therapeutic potential. As a safe and non-addictive healing compound, CBD is making its way into balms, lotions, oils, shampoos and a variety of other products.
Researchers are currently studying the benefits of CBD on a wide range of conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, PTSD, inflammation, epilepsy, dementia, and many others.
How does CBD work?
Our bodies produce their own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. Plant-derived cannabinoids like CBD or THC can activate the same receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is responsible for sending chemical signals that affect many aspects of human health including mood, pain, inflammation, stress response, and immune function. Cannabinoids can interact with ECS and help restore homeostasis.
What exactly is the difference between CBD and THC?
CBD and THC are the two most well-known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant with one major difference between them. THC is psychoactive, causing the mind-altering effects associated with marijuana.
Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive. In other words, using CBD does not result in the “high” sensation. This is an appealing option for many people who don’t want to experience the mental effects associated with THC.
What is CBD used for?
Many people use CBD to support the body’s natural systems and promote a healthy mind and body. Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate a wide variety of physiological systems.
CBD is also used for specific purposes such as supporting a good night’s rest without next day drowsiness, reducing inflammation on the skin, increasing attention and focus, and maintaining well-functioning joints. However, organic compounds such as CBD can produce different effects in different people. Your results may vary.
Is CBD water-soluble?
In its natural state, CBD oil is not water-soluble. However, FLORA products are made using a patented process which reduces CBD oil into nano-sized emulsion particles that are water-soluble. Since your body is mostly water, this increases bioavailability allowing you to achieve the same effect with less product.
What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both variants of the Cannabis sativa plant. However, there are significant differences between them. Hemp is considered “industrial” under current regulation and contains less than 0.3% THC. Marijuana contains the cannabinoid THC at greater than 0.3%, which can produce a “high” and is known as a drug.
Will CBD make me feel high?
No. CBD has many health benefits without producing the psychoactive, “euphoric” effects of THC.
Do I need a marijuana card or doctor’s prescription to buy CBD products?
No. CBD is not a drug. You will not be required to produce a medical marijuana card in order to purchase CBD online. As long as the CBD is derived from hemp, not marijuana, and contains less than 0.3% THC, it is legal in all 50 states. All FLORA products contain less than 0.3% THC.
Can I overdose on CBD or are there any negative side effects?
There is no record of anyone ever overdosing on CBD, and it is not known to have any negative side effects. CBD is completely non-toxic. However, huge servings of CBD may cause drowsiness.
Will CBD show up on positive on a drug test?
Under normal circumstances and use, CBD products are not expected to produce a positive result using industry-standard testing methods.
Do healthy people use CBD and benefit from it?
Due to its ability to help maintain homeostasis, CBD is often used by those who are healthy and do not have health concerns.
Does CBD interact with other medications?
Further research needs to be done in this area. At doses below 150mg of CBD per day, CBD is unlikely to interact with other medications. If you are taking prescription medications, please consult with your physician.
